I always love having returning guest Leeann Betts visit with me. Today she is telling us about her book, Petty Cash, and answering some questions. She has also graciously offered to give away a print or ebook copy! Let’s get started!
Carly Turnquist, forensic accountant, is headed off for another mystery. Or two. Or three.
She and hubby Mike head to Cape Cod as emotional support for their daughter Denise and her dentist husband Don who finds himself in the middle of a potential practice dissolution. But when their host fails to make an appearance, and a tropical storm blows through the area, things are topsy-turvy.
Then when their host’s body washes ashore, Don is suspected. After all, they’d had several arguments witnessed by a number of people., not to mention a sizeable partnership life insurance policy–with Don as sole beneficiary in the event Mo pre-deceases him.
Add into the mix a local ghostly legend that keeps appearing in a haunted lighthouse, a local fisherman with a costly secret, and a blossoming friendship between her grandkids and a local named Sammy, and Carly has her hands full.
You write in a few different genres, how do you keep it all straight? It’s not always easy. I guess one thing that helps is I use a pen name for my contemporary cozies. I think the more difficult thing is for me to keep the books straight in my head. In the past year, I’ve written about six books and editing another five for my agent. Sometimes the stories run together and I start to ask myself, “Did I already say that?”
Sara: I can imagine!
Who is your favorite suspense author to read? Sue Grafton for suspense, Agatha Christie for mystery.
Sara: Ah, yes, Agatha Christie–what classics!
Has a suspenseful moment ever caught up to you in real-life? Tell us about it! When I was about 13, I was lost on a mountain. Had no idea which direction to go. It scared me spitless. As an adult, I think the worst feeling was when I lost my car in a WalMart parking lot and had to ask for help to find it. Talk about embarrassing!
Sara: Haha! I have to ask my kids every time I come out where we parked!
What is next for you writing-wise? I have another book in the By the Numbers series coming out in June, and I’m editing a couple of books for my agent to send out to publishers.
Sara: I am amazed by all you juggle! Kudos!

Thank you, Leeann, for the great interview and for the giveaway. Don’t forget to answer Leeann’s question above in the comments to be entered for a chance to win! See you next week with author Glenn Haggerty.
Thanks, Sara, for a fun interview with Leeann! I have followed her for a while, but have not yet had the pleasure of reading her books. As for my favorite author of suspense/mystery, it would be hard for me to choose between Lynette Eason, Dani Pettrey, Dee Henderson, Colleen Coble, DiAnn Mills, Susan Sleeman, and… you probably get the idea that I can’t really choose, because I enjoy them all.
