For God’s Glory

I Corinthians 10:31–Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

When I’ve told people about the upcoming mission trip, the usual reactions are wow or why. Most people are rather amazed that I’m a stay at home mom with five young children and I’m planning on leaving them for almost two weeks to travel all the way to the other side of the world. Honestly, I’m a little amazed myself. But I don’t want people to be impressed with me. I want people to be impressed with God. He is the one who called me to go and has made a path to make it possible.

Since our team committed to going, the devil has been fighting. Hard. Everything that can throw up obstacles in our path has happened. We’ve had doubts and fears, worries about money, health problems, a car accident, and now today our families’ heating and a/c unit was declared officially dead (it’s only 2 1/2 years old and the warranty just ran out, of course!). It has literally been one war against the devil after another. But our motto the entire time has been, “The devil CANNOT win.”

I am not going on this mission trip so that people will be amazed by me or think more highly of me. I am going on this mission trip because the people in the Philippines deserve the opportunity to learn about God just like we do. I hope that my actions will bring honor and glory to Him, not to me or my family.

I want not only my “big” actions to glorify Him. I want to lift His name up as the giver of every single blessing. So I’m not going to focus on the problems the devil has thrown our way. I’m focusing on the small things, the good things. We have a home, we have food, we have abundant “extras,” we have two working vehicles, and healthy farm animals and healthy children, we have food in our pantry and gas in our cars. We have so much! And I know exactly where each large and small blessing come from.

What can you do to bring glory to God today?
